UK Visitor Numbers Climb at Bijorhca Paris | The Jewelry Magazine

Jewellery trade show Bijorhca Paris welcomed stable numbers of high calibre visitors to its 2018 edition, held January 19-22.

In total, the Paris-based show was visited by over 12,000 people, 29% of which travelled from outside of France to meet the show’s 309 exhibitors.52% of visitors were international, with trade professionals being represented from 95 countries. Overall seven more nationalities attended in 2018, than in 2017.

Of the regular 10 countries with the highest representation, four marked a significant increase: Portugal (+24%), the US (+22%), the Netherlands (+16%) and the UK (+12%).

There was also a significant increase in the number of purchasing managers attending, thanks primarily to the development of the show’s VIP programme.

Continuing last September’s trend, the number of online retailers attending also grew by an 45% compared to the January 2017 figure, accompanied by a larger number of wholesalers and importers (+15%).

The bulk of the attendees were, as usual, fashion and precious jewellery retailers, high street outlets and gift shops, with designers and originators mainly there to check out the season’s trends.

Highlights of this edition included the appointment of Elizabeth Leriche as artistic director, the new layout which was warmly received, and the pieces in the Fashion Trends and Elements Gallery.

In partnership with the Académie des Métiers d’Art, Bijorhca Paris offered exclusive buyer events with five workshops each day and demonstrations promoting the know-how and expertise from within the trade.

Creativity was also in the spotlight with an exhibition of the work by students from international fashion schools and a space given over to three young designers who were selected through a competition on the collaborative design platform Chall’Angel.
