The World Diamond Council (WDC) released a statement recently, expressing its concern about the pace of reform during 2018. The organisation, which includes within its fold the entire diamond trade, from producer to retailer, is an important voice in representing the international diamond industry in the Kimberley Process (KP), itself a tri-partite collaboration with governments, industry and civil society. WDC said that it had expressed these concerns at the recently concluded 2018 Plenary session of the KP which concluded recently in Brussels, Belgium. Contemporary ethical jewellery designer, Natalie Ball of Natalie Perry Jewellery, has secured her first bricks and mortar stockist in London. The designer, who scooped the Young Jewellery Designer of the Year accolade at the 2018 Professional Jeweller Awards, will now have her pieces stocked in EC One. The boutique based in London’s iconic Exmouth Market will showcase a collection of 12 pieces from Natalie Perry Jewellery’s signature Floral Fragments line. The pieces crafted in 9ct and 18ct Fairtrade Gold include delicate everyday hoop earrings, layering necklaces, bracelets, and rings. Jewellery designer Chupi Sweetman scooped an accolade at the prestigious Irish Tatler 2018 Women of the Year Awards. The annual Irish Tatler Women of the Year Awards, which this year took place at a star-studded ceremony at Dublin’s Clayton Hotel on October 20, honours the female leaders whose careers and special achievements have had an impact on women across Ireland this year. On the night, Chupi Sweetman, founder of eponymous Irish jewellery brand Chupi, was named the winner of the Fashion category, sponsored by Marks & Spencer.
